Straight, though I wish narrower, and the Cubs have the best record in baseball.
I did work out at the Wellness Center Sunday afternoon. I did 45 minutes of cardio on the treadmill, but it was a little different work out than normal. Normally the machines are set up to run 30 minutes, plus a 5 minute cool down period, though when I go 35 minutes, I keep up the pace until the final few seconds.
Yesterday I found a machine with a 60 minute countdown, and walked for 45 minutes straight, something I can’t remember doing for quite some time. Either the machine quits on me after 35 minutes and I have to crank it back up, or when I lift, I usually do a warm up period on the treadmill, lift, and then finish with more cardio.
I walked 2.47 miles, and burned 521 calories.
When was the last time you could say the Chicago Cubs have the best record in baseball? When was the last time you could say it in late August? Well, the Cubs are a ½ game better than both the Tampa Bay Rays and Los Angeles Angels. If they can keep playing good, solid ball like they have been, they have a great shot at gaining the National League home field advantage for the play-offs. I continue to be amazed.
I just got a book on Honus Wagner that I am looking forward to reading after I finish “The Glory of Their Times.” Baseball history has always fascinated me, and for some reason baseball in the early 20th century has aroused my interest the past few months. It is amazing how little most ball players were paid in those days, even some of the biggest of stars. I love the old photos of ball players, action shots or stills, and again, for some strange reason I love photos of old ball parks. I wish I could travel back in time to a warm spring day in the early 1900’s and watch the Giants and Cubs play in the Polo Grounds. Or better yet, I wish I could travel back in time to a warm spring day in the early 1900’s and play in a few games for the Cubs as they play in New York against the Giants.
I had better get back in playing shape to be wishing such things.
